KIngpin Series

Anyone can enter the KingPin Series, only Greenvalleys Club members can qualify for series points

Age Group Calculation

Age determination day is December 31 of the current racing year, meaning how old you are at the end of the year determines which category you can race.

If you are between 19 and 70 years old you can choose whether you race Elite or Expert. If you are over 30 you can race within your age group or choose to race Elite or Expert.

Elite and Expert are the top racing categories with Elite being for the more experienced riders who have been racing for a while.

Race Rules

  • Riders get 2 timed race runs at each round of the KingPin series.

  • The riders quickest time is taken for each round of the KingPin series – except for round 5 where the riders single race run counts.

  • No short cutting the track even if it is not bunted.

  • Race numbers must be displayed on the handlebars of the bicycle. The number plate must be readable, so it must be fastened as flat as possible. Altering, cutting or placing of unauthorised sponsors’ logos on numbers will result in a penalty. You can keep your number plate as a memento of your race.

  • Riders must register before they will be allowed to practice.

  • All riders must wear an Australian Standards (or approved international standard) Full Face helmet at all times when riding and racing. You will be required to wear fully enclosed foot wear and gloves are recommended.

  • For U17, U15 and U13 Categories, full finger gloves/full length jersey/knee pads/elbow pads are mandatory

  • KingPin Series points will be awarded based on the point score below.

  • You must compete in at least 2 races in order to qualify for a KingPin series podium.

  • You are allowed to change bikes in between your runs.

  • You must be present or be represented at the ceremony at the end of the race to claim your trophy. You must be present or be represented at the last race of the series to claim your KingPin awards.

  • No garbage policy: please don’t litter out on the track.

  • No cheating policy: you must follow the track. It will be clearly marked with arrows, bunting tape, flags and signs. If we see you cheating, you will not be allowed to participate in the KingPin Series.

  • Rider down procedure – if you come to an accident out on the track you MUST stop and make sure the rider is ok. If he/she is not, stay with him/her and send the next rider straight back to the event centre to let us know what happened. If you lose time while helping an injured rider we will give you another race run.

  • If a race is deemed unsafe because of storm, rain, fire or wind we will pause it, assess the situation and if possible restart it again later.

  • Passing: being friendly out on the track goes a long way. Let the rider you are about to pass know when and on which side. E.g. “rider coming up, passing on your right when you are ready”. Then say thanks and keep on pinning.  If you are being passed find the next best place to move to the side and let them pass.

  • Points scored in one category can’t be transferred to another.

Cancellations

Greenvalleys Mountain Bike Club reserves the right to cancel the race at any time and the race may be cancelled by us due to fire, storm, rain, inclement weather, wind, venue closure, or any other circumstances. If conditions do warrant the postponement of the event, Greenvalleys Mountain Bike Club will endeavour to set an alternative date and entry fees and registration details will be transferred to that alternative race.

If a rider cannot participate on the alternative race date set we ask that the riders inform us immediately after the announcement of the alternative date. We will then refund 50% of the original registration fee paid. If conditions warrant the cancellation of the event and no alternative racing date or location can be set riders will receive a discount towards a future kingpin series event worth at least 80% of the paid registration fee.

Race Fee Refunds

If you can’t make it to the race email us – we can almost certainly help you out and transfer parts or all of the entry fee over to a future Kingpin series event.

If racing in the future is not an option see the refund cut off dates and associated refund scale below. All refund requests must be made via email prior to the scheduled refund cut-off dates as outlined below.

·  up to 14 days before the event: 80%

·  up to 7 days before the event 50%
